The self employed must pick up the bit of FICA ( Social Security and Medicare tax ) that companies cover for workers. In return, a reduction partly softens the blow. Self employed people find that yearly tax costs can simply total at least twenty p.c of their revenue -- and occasionally seriously more.

Re: 4 Best Car Tips to Save Money On Gas

I'd love to hear what other tips you've found to be effective as you try to fight rising fuel costs.

What is working for you?

Re: 9 No-Fail Winter Driving Tips | CarCheckup

You are absolutely correct Andrew. Thanks for that catch on the stopping distance point.

You're also spot on with the impact of car exhaust being able to overtake you before you'd even notice.

Thanks for adding to the conversation Andrew!

I think you mean that your time to react is much shorter, the stopping distances are much longer.

#7: It's probably worth mentioning that CO can kill you before you have the chance to realize what is going on and you won't be able to react like open a door, leave the garage, or turn the car off.

LOVE the points about clearing ice and snow off your car, as well as keeping gas in the tank.

Re: Tips for Holiday Travel from CarCheckup

Make sure that your emergency kit also includes chocolate (hee hee) and a set of battery jumper cables. Here's how to jump start a car:

We've got more information for tracking business mileage on our business mileage tracking page at www.carcheckup.com/businessmil....

We've also got a tip sheet on business trips you didn't know counted that you may want to check out. http://info.carcheckup.com/bus...

Re: How much money are you loosing not keeping track of your business mileage?

Interesting article about why we should be tracking our mileage as business managers. At my previous employer we had to track every single little mile we drove and then our logs were compared to our routes. If we were 10 miles over or under what they believed was the best route we got written up. Now that I am a business owner I am consistently tracking our mileages. Thanks for the great post.
